ps aux | grep php-fpm
Find the master process (/etc/php-fpm.conf) The process number is xxxx
kill -QUIT xxxx

/etc/init.d/php-fpm

If you are installing PHP , set permissions and start php-fpm:
chmod 755 /etc/init.d/php-fpm
/etc/init.d/php-fpm start
chkconfig –add php-fpm

You can start, stop and restart as a service:
service php-fpm start
