Detect whether a number is within a range
The following example uses the filter_var() function to detect whether an INT type variable is within 1 to 200 :

Remove characters with ASCII values greater than 127
The following example uses filter_var () function to remove characters with an ASCII value greater than 127 in a string. It can also remove HTML tags: Example<?php $str = "<h1>Hello WorldÆØÅ!</h1>"; $newstr = filter_var($str, FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING, FILTER_FLAG_STRIP_HIGH); echo $newstr; ?>
