如何思实现一个宽带测速的功能

最近业务上有个需求,需要实现一个宽带测速的功能,网上搜了下,发现这方面的资料比较少.
有个phper的思路是通过netstat命令调取windows自身的信息,这里请教下大家,有什么其他的思路没?
我知道底层的一些语言,类似于C++什么的能做.
不过,希望大家语言上请尽量考虑php~

简单点的用JS

记录开始时间
下载一个1M大小的文件
记录结束时间
速度 = 文件大小 / 下载时间

php使用类似popen的函数去执行命令。我工作上面也经常这样去玩
