XML 1.0 was released on February 10, 1998 as a W3C recommendation.
XML 1.0 (Second Edition)
XML 1.0 (SE) was released on October 6, 2000 as a W3C Recommendation.
The second edition is only a correction (bug fix) based on the merging of the errata of the first edition.
XML 1.0 (3rd edition)
The second edition is simply a correction (bug fix) based on merging the errata of the first and second editions.
XML 1.1
XML 1.1 was released as a working draft on December 13, 2001, and as a candidate recommendation on October 15, 2002.
XML 1.1 allows almost all Unicode characters to be used in names.

XML namespaces provide a way to define element and attribute names for use in XML by associating them with URI references.
