Garmin Edge 1050 to launch soon as leak reveals display upgrades, new design and Garmin Pay support
Roughly two years have passed since Garmin released the Edge 1040 series, including the Edge 1040 Solar (curr. $649.99 on Amazon). Based on early leaks, it appears that the company is on the verge of delivering a successor, which will arrive as the Edge 1050. Although Garmin has not said anything officially yet, the cycling computer has already appeared on retailer databases.
Nonetheless, these results reveal a few details about the Edge 1040 successor, including a substantial display upgrade. Specifically, the Edge 1050 is said to have adopted a 3.5-inch display that outputs at 800 x 480 pixels, up from 470 x 282 pixels in the Edge 1040. While details about the panel type chosen are more shaky for the time being, it seems that Garmin will opt for an IPS or AMOLED panel rather than the transflective TFT found in the Edge 1040 series.
As a result, the Edge 1050 will offer worse battery life than its predecessor. Moreover, Garmin is rumoured to have discontinued the Solar edition, which yielded up to 45-hour runtimes as the Edge 1040 Solar. Conversely, the Edge 1050 series will feature Garmin Pay support thanks to the inclusion of an NFC chip, as well as twice the internal storage at 64 GB.
Furthermore, the Edge 1050 is expected to land with an updated design and a small speaker for relaying instructions without needing to have external audio equipment to hand. Currently, the Edge 1050 is anticipated to debut later this month, presumably as Garmin's next release. On top of that, Fitness Tracker Test believes that the Edge 1050 will arrive for approximately €699, roughly price matching its predecessor at launch.
The above is the detailed content of Garmin Edge 1050 to launch soon as leak reveals display upgrades, new design and Garmin Pay support. For more information, please follow other related articles on the PHP Chinese website!
