Oukitel is launching a new rugged smartphone onto the market, the WP52, for which there is currently no precise information on availability or pricing. Oukitel has only indirectly communicated the specifications so far.
The WP52 appears to be relatively well equipped, being a 5G smartphone that is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+. The RAM measures 4 GB and is not particularly large, while the internal storage is a decent 256 GB. The internal memory can be expanded using a microSD card, but users will then have to do without a second SIM card. Oukitel uses Android 14 as the operating system.
At 12 millimetres, the smartphone is relatively thin for a rugged model. It is advertised as having the usual IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810H certification triad, meaning that it can be submerged or used in dusty environments without damage. Drops are also said to pose no danger to the smartphone.
The 6.6-inch screen has a resolution of 720 x 1,612, which is rather meager, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. An OV48B2Q sensor from OmniVision with a resolution of 48 MP is used for the main camera, while the front camera has a resolution of 8 MP. There is also a loudspeaker that can emit up to 90 dB. Authentication is possible via a fingerprint sensor on the side.
