Apple\'s iPhone 17 will be significantly thinner, with MacBooks and Watches following suit
According to Mark Gurman's latest PowerOn newsletter, Apple is working towards making the iPhone 17 lineup 'significantly skinnier', with the MacBook and Apple Watch next in line for the slimming treatment.
Apple's recently launched iPad Pro(curr. $994 on Amazon) marked the company's return to prioritizing thinness - but unlike many other products from its past - it did so this time around without sacrificing on battery life or performance. Unsurprisingly, Apple's newfound success with efficiency and performance can mostly be attributed to Apple Silicon, which has made the MacBook as well as the iPad lineup more capable than ever before.
In his newsletter, Mark did not share any exact details regarding how thin these upcoming devices would precisely be, nor did he throw any light on the potential disadvantages of having thinner designs. The previous generation MacBooks, although exquisite to look at, had severe flaws, including but not limited to fierce thermal throttling, frequent keyboard malfunctions, and a lack of truly powerful CPU/GPU options.
Most of the fears involving the potential downgrades have semmingly evaporated with the introduction of Apple Silicon. However, a thinner MacBook, iPhone, or any other product will most likely result in lower battery capacities. Although the lower capacity can be made up for by including ever-more-efficient SoCs, a reduction in the device's maximum possible battery life will still be a matter of concern for people who are always on the go.
Given Mark's largely positive track record, it is entirely conceivable that Apple is indeed planning on making its devices much thinner. However, with the iPhone 17 as well as a potential MacBook/Watch overhaul still over a year into the future, it is rather difficult to accurately gauge what benefits or burdens these future products will bring along.
The above is the detailed content of Apple\'s iPhone 17 will be significantly thinner, with MacBooks and Watches following suit. For more information, please follow other related articles on the PHP Chinese website!
