Snapdragon X Elite CPU performance nearly identical on battery and plugged-in in Vivobook S15 benchmarks

Despite the hype surrounding the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite, it has been a rather mediocre launch. In our review, we found that the most impressive part of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite X1E-78-100-powered Asus Vivobook S 15 was the seamlessness of everything — the emulation was good enough that you wouldn't know you weren't on x86 unless you were told.

However, other reviewers, like TechTablets on YouTube, have tested different performance parameters, in this case finding that the Geekbench performance is almost identical when comparing performance while the laptop was plugged-into an outlet versus operating on battery.

Specifically, in Geekbench 6, the Asus Vivobook S 15 scored 1.75% lower in the multi-core test and 3.17% lower in the single-core test while on battery.

Geekbench 6 single core results:

  • Single-core results: 2436 on AC power vs. 2360 on battery
  • Multi-core results: 14650 on AC power vs. 14395 on battery

While Qualcomm talked up efficiency gains for the X Elite SoC, many of those claims didn't quite pan out, but it's refreshing to see near-identical performance during on-the-go situations. Typically AMD- and Intel-powered laptops can lose up to 50% of their performance when unplugged from the wall, depending on the specific chip and laptop, of course.
