Exynos 2500: Samsung working on improving Galaxy S25 SoC\'s yields
Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo made a shocking revelation earlier this week. He stated Samsung would be forced to go all-in on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ due to bad yields on the Exynos 2500. However, a report from ZDNet Korea states the company hasn't given up on its in-house SoC yet.
An industry insider told the publication Samsung LSI is laser-focused on improving Exynos 2500 (and, by extension, SF3) yields, which are rumoured to be at a dismal 20%. The company has until October to get its yields up to ~60%. Qualcomm plans to launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in late October, and we can expect Samsung to follow suit. Failing to do so may result in the Exynos 2500's cancellation, forcing Samsung to to the all-Qualcomm route.
While that will almost certainly result in price increased, consumers will overwhelmingly welcome the decision because Qualcomm has historically stayed ahead of Exynos across all performance metrics. That said, the Exynos 2500 has a lot riding on it as a lot of time and resources have been put into it. Plus, Samsung is said to be working on two Exynos 2500 variants and scrapping both would result in a lot of wasted time and resources.
