The device sold as the OnePlus Watch 2 on sites such as Amazon has only ever been marketed as the OPPO Watch X in China, meaning that fans of the brand in that country are still technically stuck with the wearable's benighted first generation.
However, a successor is now on the way - one that may or may not serve as a sneak peek of the Watch 3 for the international market.
OnePlus touts it as a phone as well as a Watch, as it is the brand's first eSIM-capable wearable. It drops the distinctive asymmetrical case of the global model, although it retains dual physical buttons and a round face.
It is also slated to land as a lightweight wearable, which is hopefully not intended to mean that it will fall short of the class-leading power efficiencyachieved in its immediate predecessor.
The 'other' Watch 2 comes with a sporty-looking band, finished in black or green to match its newchronograph, although the rest of the case seems to be finished in the same shade of dark gray regardless of SKU.
It will launch as part of OnePlus' upcoming Summer Performance Ecosystem event in China alongside the Ace 3 Pro and Pad Pro on June 27, 2024.
