The GPD Pocket 3 has been around for a while now, having been brought to Indiegogo over three years ago. Since then, the company has released countless mini laptops, among other devices. Most recently, the company refreshed the Win Mini with the Ryzen 7 8840U as the Win Mini 2024 (curr. $1,203.55 on Amazon).
Now, GPD has started selling an upgraded Pocket 3, which it is again selling through Indiegogo. In a tweet, the company explains that it has swapped the entry-level Intel Pentium Silver N6000 for the Pentium Gold 7505, an older but more powerful chipset that averages 33% higher scores in our benchmark database. Additionally, the Pentium Gold 7505 boasts a more powerful integrated GPU (iGPU), although it lacks the horsepower to play pretty much any modern game at even 720p.
Thankfully, the refreshed Pocket 3 adds a Thunderbolt 4 for eGPUs like the GPD G1 or ONEXPLAYER ONEXGPU. Moreover, the new Pocket 3 features 16 GB of LPDDR4x-3733 RAM and a single USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A port with 10 Gbps peak bandwidth. Unfortunately, the Pentium Gold 7505 limits the mini laptop to PCIe Gen3 x4 SSD speeds. Currently, the new Pocket 3 is available to back on Indiegogo for approximately $573 or $673 with an RS232 and KVM expansion module; please see GPD's Indiegogo campaign page for more details.
