Evnia 32M2N8800: Philips challenges Alienware AW3225QF, ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM and MSI MPG 321URX with new 4K and 240 Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor

Philips continues to expand the Evnia series at a rate of knots. To recap, the company presented the Evnia 34M2C6500 earlier this month but also the Evnia 27M2N5500, Evnia 27M2N6800ML and Evnia 49M2C8900L last month. This time around, it has introduced the Evnia 32M2N8800, a 31.5-inch example that outputs natively a 3,840 x 2,160 pixels (4K/UHD).

Additionally, the monitor outputs at 240 Hz while delivering 0.03 ms GtG response times. Moreover, Philips mentions that the Evnia 32M2N8800 utilises QD-OLED technology, a panel type produced by Samsung Display. Although Philips has not confirmed as much, the panel's other specifications like VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and CleaMR 13000 certification suggest that the Evnia 32M2N8800 relies upon a Gen 3 QD-OLED panel. As such, the Evnia 32M2N8800 features the same panel that underpins numerous gaming monitors released this year, including the Alienware AW3225QF, ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM (curr. $1,542.22 on Amazon) and MSI MPG 321URX to name but a few.

Accordingly, Philips quotes 1,000 nits peak brightness, albeit only across 3% of its panel at any one time (3% APL). In truth, the monitor will only be capable of reproducing SDR content at up to 250 nits. Meanwhile, Philips also includes a pair of speakers with a 5 W combined output, an adjustable stand and a USB hub, as well as the usual fare of DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 ports. So far, Philips has only started selling the monitor in Hong Kong, where it retails for HKD$8,990 (~$1,151). While the company has not confirmed global availability yet, it tends to release its high-end gaming monitors globally at some stage.
