The Sony ZV-E10 II has been leaked before as coming in the first half of 2024, and while the initial launch was seemingly set for sometime in May, it was apparently delayed. A new leak shared by prolific leaker Andrea Pizzini, supposedly originating from a trustworthy source, all but confirms the Sony ZV-E10 II will launch on July 10 with two new Sony lenses launching simultaneously or shortly thereafter.
The Sony ZV-E10 II is said to feature the same sensor and processing hardware as the A6700, giving the new camera a 26 MP APS-C BSI CMOS sensor behind a Sony E-Mount. Early rumours and leaks, however, claimed that the Sony ZV-E10 II will not feature in-body image stabilisation as one of the sacrifices for the sub-$1,000 price point.
Those looking for a more feature-complete compact camera will have to look to the A6700 (curr. $1,398 on Amazon) or the Fujifilm X-S20 (curr. $1,399.95 from Best Buy with a 15–45 mm kit lens). Pizzini, however, also makes mention of two other products launching on or around the July 10 launch date of the ZV-E10 II.
The first companion lens launching around the same time as the Sony ZV-E10 II is an updated 16–50 mm F/3.5–5.6 kit lens that will likely launch on the same day as the ZV-E10 II and ship alongside the camera in a bundle deal. While Pizzini mentions that the new 16–50 mm lens is an updated version of the current lens (which is only $174.96 on Amazon), he does not specify whether it will be more compact, sharper, or lighter.
He does offer more details about Sony's other upcoming camera lens, though, and it seems to be a rather compelling prospect for portrait photographers.
The second lens that Sony should launch around the same time as the ZV-E10 II camera is an updated version of the Sony FE 85 mm F/1.4 GM lens (curr. $1,798 on Amazon). Pizzini's sources claim that the new lens is already in the hands of testers and that it is reportedly performing admirably.
According to the leaks, the new 85 mm F/1.4 lens will be lighter, more compact, and provide improved image quality over its predecessor. The new lens will likely not be paired with the ZV-E10 II all that often, so it would not be a surprise to see Sony launch the new lens at a separate launch event instead of on July 10.
