Kazakhstan’s Financial Services and Regulatory Committee (AFSA) has approved Toncoin (TON) for trading on regulated exchanges.

This approval follows an audit that confirmed that Toncoin meets the financial regulator’s listing criteria. Toncoin now joins a group of 107 digital assets approved by Kazakhstan, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon, and Avalanche.

Toncoin’s popularity is largely due to Telegram’s integration and the gaming ecosystem. The Open Network (TON) utilizes Telegram’s vast user base of over 800 million daily active users to provide Mini Apps and in-app payments.

According to TGStat, Kazakhstan has 55 million Telegram active users. This integration enables TON to be used for value transfer and daily transactions, making it a preferred choice in developing nations.

Moreover, TON's ecosystem includes blockchain gaming, with games like Hamster Kombat, Notcoin, Yescoin, and TonPotato being popular among users looking to earn additional income. These games contribute to TON’s appeal and user engagement on the platform.

However, TON also faces challenges, including security concerns. According to SlowMist founder Yu Xian, phishing attacks are on the rise, with attackers exploiting TON’s Telegram integration by creating groups and posting malicious links. This issue is a major concern as TON continues to expand.

Hamster Kombat, a game in the TON ecosystem, has also drawn attention from government officials. Uzbekistan’s National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP) recently issued a statement regarding the game’s tokens.

The regulator clarified that since Hamster Kombat’s tokens are not on-chain digital assets, they fall outside the agency's regulatory remit. However, if these tokens were to migrate on-chain, withdrawing them could become an issue.
