The third matchday of the 2024 AMAPRO Football Championship was filled with excitement and drama, as 13 goals were scored and the quarterfinalists were determined.
Defending champions Abraysports opened the day with a 1-1 draw against Teworh SC. Godwin James gave Teworh the lead in the 38th minute, but Atoyebi Mujeeb equalized for Abraysports in the 57th minute.
Da Faria secured a narrow 1-0 win over House of Prayer, courtesy of Yinka Philemon's early goal in the 21st minute.
AMAPRO SSA and Unicorn FC shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. An own goal by Shuaib Muyieeb in the 31st minute was canceled out by Jamiu Issa's equalizer for Unicorn in the 36th minute.
HMK FC and Gateway FA played out a goalless draw in a match that saw both teams create several scoring chances but failed to capitalize on them.
NPFL All Stars needed a late goal from Samson Ayodeji to beat Laycon FA 2-1 and advance to the quarterfinals. Wasiu Jimoh gave NPFL All Stars the lead from the penalty spot in the 26th minute, but Kehinde Taofiq equalized for Laycon just before halftime. However, Ayodeji scored the winning goal in the dying minutes of the match.
