Hiram Shaw’s Church

The Hiram Shaw Church puzzle in Marvel’s Midnight Suns can be found north of the Standing Stones area. By obtaining and using the Reveal power, you’ll be able to cross the bridge that takes you to the opposite side. Follow the old road until you reach the church itself, and get ready to talk to a familiar specter.

Inside, you’ll find the friendly ghost of Agatha Harkness, and she instructs you to check the grounds. Pick up some collectibles here, then use the Open power on the door. In the next room is a desk with blank parchments. Make a mental note of these for now since they’re quite important.

After investigating the room, head to the back and you’ll spot some dark magic blocking the entrance to a cave. Agatha will then tell you that Doctor Strange might be able to help. Head back to the Abbey to talk to the Sorcerer Supreme, who tells you that he may need some more time to look into this magic blockage.

Rune Cave

You’ll need to progress further in the game until you’ve defeated Fallen Venom in “The Bell Tolls” mission. You’ll unlock a research opportunity at The Forge that takes about a day to complete. Go ahead and start the research, and complete more missions to make time pass. You can also spend this day bonding with your super-pals and giving them great gifts.

When you return to the cave, you’ll be able to remove the runes. Inside, grab some goodies and inspect the withered husk.

Witch Warrens and Stained Soil

Next, go back to the room inside the church (the one with the blank parchments). Use the Reveal power to see that there are now drawings on the pieces of paper. Agatha cites that these are where witches died during Hiram Shaw’s reign of terror in Salem. Now, you’ll have to find these locations to pick up quest items. This will take a decent amount of walking time, but the mission won’t be going anywhere, so be sure to take some battle breaks in between the exploring.

Below, you’ll see a map with the locations of Stained Soil and Witch Warrens in Midnight Suns. When you reach these areas, look at the ground to grab the soil samples that you need.

Here’s the gist:

• Witch Warren/Stained Soil A – Fast travel to the Standing Stones area and follow the path to the base of the hill. You’ll see a cave shelter here.
• Witch Warren/Stained Soil B – Go east from the Dreamer’s Descent fast travel point and check the sloping path that leads to this cavern.
• Witch Warren/Stained Soil C – From Agatha’s Altar, follow the river northwest.

The Hanging Tree

After obtaining all Stained Soil items, return to Agatha and she’ll teleport you back to the altar. Agatha will then show you a picture of a location that you’ll need to find to complete this quest.

The picture depicts an empty location with a decaying tree in the middle of it. To find it, fast-travel back to Shaw Church and follow the road going to the west. There’s a destroyed bridge here, but you can repair it by using the Reveal power.

Go north until you see the steps leading to the graveyard. Off to the side, you’ll see the ancient tree with runes. Once you’re close to it, use the Reveal power and Agatha will show up once more and grant you an important item.

This will complete the Hiram Shaw Church puzzle in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, which happens to net you your third Moon Seal. Now that you have all the Moon Seals, you can focus on grabbing other collectibles like the plethora of Tarot cards.
