Two Bitcoin Whales Suddenly Shift Tens of Millions of Dollars in BTC After 10+ Years of Dormancy

Data from the whale-watching bot Whale Alert reported the abrupt awakening of an ancient Bitcoin wallet that moved 1,004 BTC worth $56.92 million

Two ancient Bitcoin wallets have been activated after more than a decade of dormancy, shifting tens of millions of dollars in BTC.

According to data from the Whale Watch Robot Whale Alert, a Bitcoin wallet that had been dormant for 10.6 years suddenly woke up and transferred 1,004 BTC worth $56.92 million.

On-chain data shows that the whale initially transferred BTC to an unknown wallet and then transferred it to another wallet of unknown origin where the Bitcoin stack currently resides.

According to Bitinfocharts, the well-funded investor spent more than $1.132 million to accumulate BTC in 2013 and 2014, when Bitcoin was trading below $800, indicating gains after a decade of holding A gain of over 4,920%.

Whale Alert also discovered that another Bitcoin holder moved 20 BTC worth $1.41 million after being dormant for 11 years. According to on-chain data, the entity relocated the BTC to an unknown wallet and then moved the Bitcoin stack to another unknown wallet.

Data from Bitinfocharts shows that this investor spent $1,676 to accumulate a Bitcoin stack in July 2013, when BTC was trading around $80, indicating a gain of nearly 68,000% after 11 years of silence.

None of these Bitcoin stacks were sent to known cryptocurrency exchange addresses where they could potentially be sold on the open market.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $57,700, up more than 2% from the past day.
