Cardano releases verification node Node9.0! Taking the final step towards Chang upgrade

Opening the Era of Decentralized Governance

According to the official statement, the node software upgrade to Node9.0 will pave the way for the Chang hard fork and open a new era of Cardano’s decentralized governance. After the Chang hard fork is completed, Cardano will officially enter the "Voltaire" era from the "Basho" era.

In Cardano Improvement Proposal 1694 (CIP-1694), the developers detailed changes to governance rights. According to the proposal, the Chang hard fork will introduce "delegated representatives (DReps)", which are voted by ADA token holders.

Delegated representatives will be responsible for drafting the Cardano Constitution, which will become the highest governance law for the Cardano network. After the constitution is drafted and adopted, the entrusted representatives will continue to propose modifications to Cardano in accordance with the constitution.

However, the release notes of Node9.0 mentioned that all governance operations have not yet been enabled in Node9.0, and the complete voting protocol will be released in version 10.0. Nonetheless, Node 9.0 version has introduced the basic functionality required to implement CIP-1694.

Five major stages of the Cardano roadmap
