This site reported on July 19 that Acer submitted a filing document to the Eurasian Economic Commission EEC on the 15th of this month. The document covers a large number of discrete graphics card models launched by Acer, including the high-end Predator series and the lower-level Shadow Knight series.

Interestingly, the graphics cards submitted by Acer include AMD Radeon RX 7700, RX 7800, and RX 7900, three models that have not yet been officially released by AMD.

AMD has only launched 7 RDNA3 graphics card products on the desktop so far, which is significantly reduced compared to the 15 models of RDNA2 architecture.

And among AMD's desktop RX 7000 graphics cards, only the lowest-end RX 7600 does not have any suffix, while 4 of the remaining 6 models have the XT suffix, 1 has the XTX suffix, and 1 has the GRE suffix. This means AMD has reserved quite a bit of namespace for other RDNA3 models.

Considering that the AMD RX8000 series graphics cards with RDNA4 architecture are expected to be unveiled at CES 2025, AMD does not have enough motivation to launch a new desktop RDNA3 graphics card SKU in the second half of 2024.

From this site’s perspective, Acer’s registration of these unlaunched models is more likely to prevent AMD from changing its product strategy and ensure that AMD will not be at a loss when it suddenly launches new RDNA3 products.
