Families across south Wales are in for a treat this summer at The Royal Mint Experience.
The attraction has earned a prestigious reputation for telling the story of The Royal Mint, 'the original maker' of UK coins. These coins have commemorated special occasions and moments in history for monarchs since Alfred the Great.
Popular for its rich history of minting coins over 1,100 years, it's set to be the ultimate destination for school holiday fun.
With an exciting range of activities lined up - including the Pirate Takeover, Team Wales exhibition and the chance for visitors to strike their own Team GB and ParalymicsGB 50p coin in support of the Olympics - there's something for the whole family to enjoy this season.
What’s on this summer?
Pirate Takeover
Families can get ready to join the Pirate Takeover, happening every Wednesday, Saturday and during the August bank holiday weekend, between July 31 and August 26, 2024.
An interactive experience for both children and adults, there will be a bounty of activities to occupy your crew during the school holidays.
Visitors can expect face-to-face encounters with pesky pirates causing shenanigans, cutlass training, animal encounters, games and engaging maritime history; it's not to be missed.
There will also be live pirate shows filled with laughs and challenges to tackle, where children can earn a swashbuckling certificate if they complete all of the tasks.
The fun doesn’t stop there though - visitors can dive into the 'Coins and the Sea' exhibition to explore fascinating stories of trade and treasure.
Terrific tours
Here's a reason to extend the fun - take advantage of a special offer with 40% off a Royal Mint Experience tour* on the same day as their pirate adventure.
The guided tours provide an in-depth look at how coins are made, from blanking to striking, offering a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse into one of the oldest organisations in the world. The tour guides at The Royal Mint Experience are incredibly skilled in adapting for a range of audiences and are exceptional at bringing the story of British coinage to life.
After the tour, guests can explore an award-winning exhibition that delves into the rich history of coinage, including rare coins and historical artefacts that have been collected over the last 1,100 years.
