With the full set having been revealed, new cards are hitting the market, many with hyper-inflated pre-sale prices. At the same time, existing cards that are set to become new staples with the advent of Bloomburrow are also seeing increased demand.

In particular, as is often the case now, cards that will see play in new Bloomburrow-based Commander decks are getting some finance attention. Like Token or Food decks? You may want to get in on these cards now!

Securitron Squad

We’ll start with an overlooked gem from earlier this year. Securitron Squad is a nifty little Robot from the Fallout Commander decks, precision-engineered to slot perfectly into token decks. This has always been a viable, and popular, archetype in the format. Bloomburrow really cranks it up to 11. It’s to the point where you could reasonably call it a ‘Tokens-Matter set.’

Baylen, the Haymaker alone is probably reason enough to pick this card up. Not only does it make tokens itself to fuel your mana and card generation in the deck, but it buffs any other tokens you make too. The card is on the collective player radar as a powerhouse Commander from the set. It even claimed a high spot in our own ranking of the best Bloomburrow Commanders.

That, combined with all the other token generators in Bloomburrow, has caused the price of this card to spike over the last week. Where copies would once run you around $1, they now go for just under $3. That’s a jump of around 200%, and it may not be the peak of Securitron Squad’s ascent. It’s a very powerful card, it’s tough to reprint, and it will be a part of every optimized white tokens deck from now ’till forever.

As an interesting side note, the Showcase Pip-Boy version of Securitron Squad is currently selling for a bit less than the standard version. Like many Showcase styles, it seems this one just isn’t as popular as the core MTG card frame. If you’re not too bothered about your deck’s aesthetic cohesion or actually prefer the Pip-Boy style, then this is a great chance for a bargain. I foresee both versions continuing to climb in the coming weeks, however.

Experimental Confectioner

It’s not just tokens that are causing Bloomburrow Commander finance spikes. Food is also back in a big way this set, which is causing ripples across the market. Food decks are a popular off-beat strategy in the format, largely down to their novelty value. New cards like Ygra, Eater of All, however, could take the archetype from meme to dream.

The big mover in the Food department so far is Experimental Confectioner. This isn’t actually purely Commander-related, as the card is still legal in Standard, and will be until 2026. It’s also one of the best Food payoff cards in any format, giving you a free Rat token each time you cash in a Food. Notably, the Food doesn’t need to be sacrificed to its own ability to trigger this, which opens up infinite combos with Ygra, and powerful synergies with other Food cards.

Price-wise, Confectioner has gone from around $2.20 last week to around $4.65 this week. That’s another spike of around 200%, and a serious jump for an uncommon, especially one from a recent set. It’s hard to say where the ceiling on this card will be, and I expect it will actually be determined by its performance in Standard more than anything else. If Food decks are a real force in the format, then this will continue to see growth. If not, it’ll probably stabilize around $4-5 as a solid Commander piece. As long as Wilds of Eldraine is in print, that is.
