According to news from this website on July 29, based on the news of X platform source HXL (@9950pro) and the foreign media Tom's Hardware article, an error in the top cover silk screen is one of the reasons why AMD delayed the release of the Ryzen 9000 desktop processor.
It is currently unclear whether the postponement of this sale is also related to other issues.
AMD previously stated in an announcement that there will be a short delay in the retail availability of Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors after it was discovered during the final inspection process that the first batch of production units shipped to channel partners did not fully meet AMD's quality expectations.
The Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X processors will be available on August 8, and the Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X processors will be available on August 15.
The picture Note 1 shared by HXL shows a "9700X" processor. The OPN product ID of this CPU is 100-000001404, which corresponds to the discrete version of AMD Ryzen 7 9700X.
However, the top cover of this processor is printed with "AMD Ryzen 9 9700X", which is an error in the product grade name.
According to Tom's Hardware report, the same problem also occurs on some AMD Ryzen 5 9600X processors, and the product grade is also printed as "Ryzen 9".
It is worth noting that the two new Ryzen 9 processor products were launched later than the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 products that have been confirmed to have silk screen errors.
