Previous leaks showed off Google's plans to release two Pixel-branded smartwatches: Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Watch 3 XL. As the latter's name suggests, it will offer a larger screen with an identical feature set but fundamentally use the same materials, unlike the Galaxy Watch Ultra that uses a titanium chassis. However, Android Headlines has now revealed that the Pixel Watch 3 XL will be sold under an entirely different name.
Google plans to call its smartwatches Pixel Watch 3 (41 mm) and Pixel Watch 3 (45 mm), opting to drop the XL tag entirely. While this might seem confusing for end users, it is a common practice among OEMs to include a smartwatch's diameter next to its product name. Plus, it will help declutter the already congested launch event, which is said to include the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel Buds Pro 2.
So far the Pixel Watch 3 XL/Pixel Watch 3 (45 mm) is tipped to launch with a 2,000 nits display and 420 mAh battery. However, there is still no word about its SoC. The Pixel Watch 2 came with Qualcomm's Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 (AKA Qualcomm 5100) SoC, but there has been no word about its successor so far.
