On July 29, Geely Automobile’s official live broadcast disassembled the battery pack of a Galaxy E5 endurance test car and conducted a health test on it. It is reported that the car is equipped with Geely's self-developed and self-produced Aegis Dagger battery, which has undergone 921 charge and discharge cycle tests and has a verified mileage of more than 300,000 kilometers.
The on-site results showed that the structure of the car’s battery pack is still intact and has a health level of 90.5%.
It is understood that the 921 charge and discharge cycles completed by the Aegis Dagger battery pack are enough for the entire vehicle to achieve a driving range of over 400,000 kilometers. Currently, the battery pack installed in products of the same level on the market has a capacity that decays to 80% after completing 500 charge and discharge cycles (approximately 250,000 kilometers of driving mileage), and its cycle life is much lower than the Aegis Dagger battery pack.
The number of charging times is one of the most important factors affecting battery health. For example, the battery of the iPhone 15 series models can maintain about 80% of its original capacity under ideal conditions after completing 1,000 charging cycles, and every 50 charges affects the health by 1%.
The Aegis Dagger battery is a new generation of "blade type" lithium iron phosphate battery developed and produced by Geely, with an energy density of 192Wh/kg. Officials say it has a battery cell cycle life of 3,500 times, which translates into a mileage of more than 1 million kilometers. The battery cell has a strong diaphragm, good coating, and is more heat-resistant. It can withstand 8 needle stabs and real bullet gun tests. Under extreme destructive conditions, it can still avoid fire or explosion.
Previously, the Aegis Dagger battery pack has successively passed the wave immersion, plateau extreme cold, high-frequency bottom scraping (3 scraping bottoms), 26-ton violent crushing, and single-pack side pillar collision carried out by the China Automotive Industry Center , fire and roasting, a total of six devils were serially tested.
Among them, many individual test requirements are higher than the national standard, which shows its safety and reliability. At the same time, the Aegis dagger battery also has ultra-fast charging characteristics, with an average charging rate of 2.45C. Officials say it can be recharged to 80% in 17 minutes.
It is worth mentioning that the Galaxy E5’s battery pack also adopts the industry-leading CTB configuration, and has made key improvements to the protective structure of the single pack, using a stronger Tian-shaped frame. A large energy-absorbing buffer space is reserved between the frames, and multiple protection designs such as hydraulic and electrical separation, electrical isolation, and heat dissipation are carried out to comprehensively improve the safety level of the battery pack.
Therefore, even after driving for 300,000 kilometers in high temperature, cold, and high humidity environments, the structure of the Galaxy E5 battery pack is still intact and well protected.
Not only that, Geely can also monitor the battery, electric drive and charging and distribution 7×24 through the Xingrui Intelligent Computing Center, which can realize cloud fault warning, online fault diagnosis, online vehicle maintenance, etc. Identify potential vehicle safety risks and use intelligent after-sales services to further reduce users' vehicle use risks.
Previously, the 20,000th battery pack of Aegis Dagger Battery was successfully rolled off the production line at the Guiyang Shanju Factory on July 26, and will be first installed on the Geely Galaxy E5.
As a new pure electric SUV model under Geely Galaxy, the Galaxy E5 is developed based on the GEA architecture. It is not only equipped with the Aegis Dagger battery for the first time, but also equipped with Galaxy 11-in-1 smart electric drive and CTB battery body integration technology , Geely's self-developed G-TCS all-weather drive anti-skid system, Galaxy Flyme Auto smart cockpit and other leading technologies. Officially said that the 0-100km/h acceleration time is 6.9 seconds and the braking distance from 100 kilometers is 35m. The new car will be officially launched on August 3 .
