Rumours of a GoPro Hero with a 1-inch camera sensor start again before GoPro Hero 13 Black and MAX 2.0 releases

GoPro has not commented on the release of any new camera hardware recently. However, evidence has emerged from reliable sources that the company could finally be on the verge of introducing a new 360-degree camera under its MAX branding. For reference, GoPro confirmed last year that this would eventually occur.

With that being said, GoPro did not reveal when it intended to replace the MAX (curr. $469 on Amazon), which is now nearing its fifth birthday. Typically, one would expect GoPro to bring forth another Hero-branded action camera too, this year. If recent GoPro Hero releases are anything to go by, then this year's model will likely arrive as the Hero 13 Black, presumably stylised as 'Hero13 Black'.

Now, rumours have started circulating that GoPro will equip the Hero 13 Black with a 1-inch type camera sensor. Originating onDouyinand circulated by@tech_insights4U, the post provides a brief look at the device and an alleged confidential document. Additionally, a reference to Sony's IMX989 camera sensor can be seen, which underpins the likes of the Xiaomi 13 Pro and other recent flagship smartphones.

In short, this is nothing more than a re-appearance of a similar rumour from last year about the Hero 12 Black that was quickly disproved. Not only that, but @tech_insights4U is the same account that spread these rumours last year. Consequently, we would recommend treating this purported leak as nothing more than fancruft at this stage.
