Binance France director resigns, among executives to exit crypto exchange
Stéphanie Cabossioras has resigned as executive director of Binance France, becoming at least the 10th executive to leave Binance this year.
Binance France resident David Prinçay confirmed Cabossioras’ departure in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on October 19, expressing his gratitude for her work on the exchange.
We remember Stéphanie’s contribution to Binance France and his contribution to prochain défi. Cabossioras first joined Binance in April 2022 as head of legal at the cryptocurrency exchange’s French arm, before being promoted to executive director in November of the same year.
A Binance spokesperson told reporters that its French business continues to grow and that Cabosciola’s departure will have no impact on its business.
Prior to joining the cryptocurrency exchange, Cabosioras was the general counsel of the Autorité des Marchés Financiers, the organization responsible for much of the financial regulation in the Canadian province of Quebec.
Binance France came under local investigation in June, with the Paris prosecutor’s office investigating a series of charges including serious money laundering.
With her departure, Cabosiolas adds her name to the list of at least 10 executives set to leave Binance this year alone.
On July 6, three senior executives announced their departure, including Chief Strategy Officer Patrick Hilman, General Counsel Han Ng, and Binance Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications Steve Milton.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao addressed these departures on July 7, calling them a normal part of the company’s development while dismissing reports of these departures as FUD.
As an organization that grew from 30 to 8,000 people in 6 years, and from 0 to the largest crypto exchange in the world in less than 5 months, it has been the subject of a series of high-profile lawsuits filed against it by US regulators Later, Binance’s legal woes worsened. In March this year, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission sued CZ, Binance and their affiliates for a series of alleged trading violations.
In June, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission launched its own legal proceedings against CZ, Binance and their affiliates for allegedly operating as unregistered securities brokers.
