ASUS has now released the ROG Ally X, which also signals the arrival of a new update for the existing ROG Ally (curr. $399.99 on Amazon). Announced in May, the update focuses on introducing Armoury Crate SE 1.5 (ACSE 1.5), an expanded version of the software that ASUS has shipped with all ROG Ally units since the initial launch last year. In summary, the company describes ASCE 1.5 in the following terms:
ACSE 1.5 introduces a more console-like and easy-to-navigate UI, with more customization for how game titles are displayed and arranged, and revamped carousel and list views.
Unfortunately, it seems that a few issues currently exist when updating to ACSE 1.5. For some reason, there are multiple reports with input methods not working as expected. Also, others have noted that TDP settings are missing once the software is upgraded to v1.5. However, some have even experienced ACSE 1.5 completely failing to install, with the v1.5 continuously attempting to finish updating instead.
Thankfully, one ROG Ally owner has posted a guide on r/ROGAlly that supposedly resolves the issues described above. For reference, these are as follows:
