As is tradition for the company, Apple is expected to announce the next generation iPhone 16 family in September. Just like the iPhone 15 lineup, the iPhone 16 series is also rumored to consist of four devices:
All four iPhone 16 models are also rumored to move to the new Apple A18 platform with the Pro variants enjoying the A18 Pro SoC. Finally, while the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max design apparently remains the same, the base iPhone 16 and 16 Plus design is reportedly getting some notable tweaks. To that end, dummy units of the iPhone 16 have appeared on X showing the design of the back of the device in five different colors (via Sonny Dickson).
For starters, the iPhone 16 dummy unit appears in Black, Pink, Blue, White, and Pink colors. Interestingly, these colors appear to be much darker than the paler finishes of the iPhone 15 (Buy "Renewed" on Amazon).
The dummy units of the iPhone 16 also confirm that Apple is stacking the two back cameras vertically, a look reminiscent of the camera design of the iPhone X and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. If true, this would be the first time since the iPhone 13 that Cupertino is updating the camera placement of the base models. Finally, the dummy units also show the Capture button on the right side (left side when lying face down). For the uninitiated, the iPhone 16 series is rumored to include a mechanical Capture button that is also touch-sensitive for gesture support.
