Huawei's August 6 launch event in China is shaping up to be a big one with several new products. In addition to a clamshell foldable phone under the Nova series and new laptops, the manufacturer has teased the arrival of two new tablets, too. The tablets are reported to launch as the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 and the MatePad Air 12.
The teasers for the new tablets were shared on Weibo and they provide a look at their design. The MatePad Pro 12.2 is shown to have slim and even bezels around the display. Interestingly, it doesn't have a notch or a punch hole like the MatePad Pro 13.2 and the MatePad Pro 11 (2024) respectively. The tablet is also shown attached to a white keyboard case which has a slot for a matching stylus.
On the other hand, the MatePad Air 12 is shown to also have uniform bezels, no notch, and support for a stylus. There are grilles at the top and bottom, hinting at the tablet having quad speakers. The MatePad Air 12 has a protruding camera island and a power button with a red accent. When it launches, it will be available in pink, green, and white.
The specifications of both Huawei MatePad tablets are currently unknown. However, if the MatePad Pro 12.2 is the same Huawei tablet that was seen on the 3C database in June, then it should ship with support for an impressive 100W fast charging. For context, the Galaxy Tab S9 (curr. $689 on Amazon) supports just 45W fast charging, and there's no possibility the upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra will charge any faster.
