Deal | Amazon discount brings AirPods (2nd gen) within arm's reach of their lowest prices ever

Thanks to an ongoing sale on Amazon, Apple's AirPods (2nd-gen) can now be had for less than a dollar above their record-low prices. At just $69.99, the 2nd-generation AirPods offer respectable value, considering that audio quality and modern features such as spatial audio are not of particular importance for prospective buyers.

Released all the way back in 2019, the AirPods (2nd-gen) feature the Apple H1 chip, allowing for seamless connectivity and voice-activated Siri. They offer up to 5 hours of listening time on a single charge and almost 24 hours when periodically recharged with the included charging case. The case, unfortunately, lacks wireless charging and utilizes a lightning connector instead.

While the features and convenience offered were impressive at the time of the original AirPods' release, the 2nd-gen AirPods unsurprisingly lack many of the advanced features that the variants since have adopted. Notably, they do not feature spatial audio, adaptive EQ, or sweat resistance. Moreover, even though the audio quality is perfectly inoffensive for most use cases, it is nothing to write home about and falls short compared to the sound quality of newer versions.

Even though this deal provides an excellent opportunity to enter the AirPods ecosystem at a significantly reduced price, buyers should be cognizant of the fact that the 2nd-gen AirPods, while perfectly decent, are almost half a decade old and may not meet the expectations set by modern standards.
