AYANEO releases Pocket DMG as powerful vertical gaming handheld from 9 with OLED display and Game Boy vibes

AYANEO has followed up the Pocket S (curr. $752.95 on Amazon) with the Pocket DMG, a device that it first teased in November 2023. While the Pocket DMG features the same chipset as thePocket S, the former has launched for 15% less than the latter. Specifically, the Pocket DMG starts at $339, albeit only in its 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage trim; please see the image below for full pricing information.

To recap, the Pocket DMG houses Qualcomm's Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 chipset, which proved powerful enough to emulate Nintendo Switch games and beyond in thePocket S. However, theSnapdragon G3x Gen 2can also generate a lot of heat, which may explain why AYANEO markets the Pocket DMG as offering 'flagship-level cooling'. Ultimately it remains to be seen how the Pocket DMG will perform under sustained load though, particularly given its 91.5 x 151 x 15~22.3 mm dimensions.

Additionally, the Pocket DMG contains an OLED display that outputs at 1,240 x 1,080 with 500 nits peak brightness while spanning 3.92-inches across. Although the device resembles a Game Boy, it also contains functionality like a hall effect joystick, a customisable side key, three sets of shoulder buttons and a touchpad that serves a second joystick. Please see the images below for full pricing and specifications of AYANEO's latest Android gaming handheld.
