The coin collector, who goes by @CoinCollectingWizard, showcased the prized piece in a video where an auctioneer explained its significance and value.
In the clip, the auctioneer expresses his excitement, saying: "This is my private collection one that's been loaned to as very kindly.
"It's great because it's such an iconic coin we get lots of visitors coming to see it.
"Usually these coins disappear into safes and never seen again. The last sold in 2016 for a hammer price of around £140,000."
Highlighting the rarity and potential future value, he said: "It's first ones had sold for many many years and one would imagine if it would come on the market again it would sell for even higher.
"This is the 1933 pre-decimal penny from the UK, so make sure you check your grandad's old coin collection and keep an eye out for this date."
He clarified, however, that he didn't possess the actual coin, admitting: "Now obviously I don't have the coin, this is a fake copy version."
He concluded his viral clip by posing a tantalising question to his followers: "Do you have this coin from 1933? If so you are rich, there are other dates to look out for too, but it's never going to be the crazy value of the 1933 penny as seven are known to exist."
Wrapping up his informative session, he left viewers with a thought: "So if you find one, you are extremely lucky.
"If you found this 1933 penny, what would be the first thing you would do."
The post, captioned: "The holy grail 1933 predecimal penny", quickly went viral, racking up over 1,120 likes and sparking hundreds of comments.
