Last year, X owner Elon Musk revealed plans to turn the X platform into an ‘everything app’ with the payment service being one of the highlights of this master plan. Since then, X has acquired money-transmitting licenses in various states in the United States as part of its plan to launch the payment service.

So far, the social media platform has acquired licenses in 35 states, with the latest coming from North Dakota. That leaves X with 15 more states to go, and the acquisition of licenses in these remaining states will pave the way for the launch of the payments feature.
