Lenovo Tab Plus review: An integrated kickstand and impressive speaker system as unique selling points

The speakers on most tablets—especially those in the lower price range—sound rather weak. You usually only get better sound if you connect a headset to the tablet via Bluetooth or, if available, using a 3.5-millimeter jack. Both work on theLenovo Tab Plus, but the tablet isn't dependent on external audio devices to deliver strong sound.

An Apple iPad Pro doesn't even sound better

Lenovo has equipped its entertainment tablet with a total of eight JBL speakers, which delivered impressive performance during our test. Thanks to its balanced and voluminous sound—from which even some bass can be heard—the Tab Plus didn't just greatly outperform other tablets in the same price range. Even premium tablets such as theApple iPad Pro, which cost a lot more than the test candidate, can't create a better sound quality.

Kickstand: Comfortably prop the tablet up horizontally

Another unique feature of the Lenovo Tab Plus, which is clad in an aluminium case, is its kickstand. It can be folded out almost 180 degrees on its mechanical hinges and holds the set position firmly. This allows the Lenovo tablet to be set up very flexibly in landscape format.

Due to its speaker system and kickstand, the Lenovo device weighs a comparatively high 660 grams for a tablet within the 11.x-inch class, and it also isn't particularly slim. The lower half of its case measures a thick 13.58 millimeters. The upper half is considerably slimmer at 7.77 millimeters.

The rest of its features offer no particular surprises and are roughly what you would expect from a tablet in the US$300 price range. On the plus side, it has an IPS display with a 2K resolution, the eight-coreMediatek Helio G99SoC, an 8600 mAh battery that can be charged at up to 45 watts as well as Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 5. Android 14 comes pre-installed on the Tab Plus and upgrades up to Android 16 are guaranteed by the manufacturer.
