There are plenty of silvers and coppers knocking about that are more valuable than they may seem at first glance.

Thankfully, there are experts out there who are willing to tell us which ones to keep an eye out for.

One of these money gurus is TikTok user @CoinCollectingWizard, who recently lifted the lid on a Kew Gardens 50p piece that is highly sought-after by collectors.

The coin was minted to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the famous London landmark – and just 210,000 of these were made and released into circulation back in 2009.

So if you have your hands on one, you can expect to make around £250 or more.

There are versions of the piece that are even more valuable, too.

The Kew Gardens 50p coin also comes in gold proof condition, which is extremely rare and very valuable.

Owning one could mean you fetch thousands at auction – with the money guru revealing that one recently fetched £7,000 at auction.

In a recent post, the Coin Collecting Wizard said: "Have you seen this? This beauty of a coin sold for £7,000.

"The ultra rare version of the Kew Gardens 50p was estimated to fetch between £5,000 and £6,000.

"The winning bidder grabbed themselves this graded PF70 version which is the best grade a coin can have.

"There were just 629 gold proof versions of the Kew Gardens 50p coin which was bought by the public in 2009.

"The coin features a design by Christopher Le Brun on the obverse celebrating the Royal of Botanical Gardens.

"This coin was first released in 009 to celebrate 250 years of the iconic west London landmark.

"And it has since became the 'holy grail' of UK coin hunting.

Even if you don't have a special version of the coin, it could be worth getting it valued or putting it up for sale.

One recently made £150 – and it can go for more in uncirculated condition.

The TikToker added: "A similar auction five years ago saw the gold proof sell for £2,000 meaning it has shot up in value by 240%.

" And many appreciated his advice – as the video has garnered more than 150 likes.
