According to news from this website on August 13, Toshiba Beijing time yesterday released the new generation S300 Pro surveillance mechanical hard drive suitable for large-scale video surveillance systems. The most obvious difference from the previous generation S300 Pro is that the cache capacity has doubled from 256MiB to 512MiB.
Toshiba’s new generation S300 Pro surveillance mechanical hard drive is a 7200rpm CMR air drive, supports video streams from up to 64 high-definition (HD) cameras, can work 24×7, and provides four 4TB, 6TB, 8TB, and 10TB capacity options.
Compared with the previous generation S300 Pro, the new S300 Pro has made improvements in multiple parameters:
MTBF mean time between failures: extended from 1 million hours to 1.2 million hours;
Maximum sustained transmission speed: from highest 248MB/s increased to 281MB/s (Note from this site: approximately 268MiB/s)
Annual workload: increased from 180TB to 300TB;
Unrecoverable error rate: reduced from 1×10-14 to 1×10- 15;
Power consumption: Taking the maximum 10TB capacity as an example, the typical operating power consumption dropped from 9.48W to 9.07W, a decrease of 4.3%.
Toshiba representative Akira Kura said:
Large-scale video surveillance work involves key functions such as advanced video analysis, facial tracking and editing. Toshiba’s new generation S300 Pro is optimized for these tasks, providing higher performance, Durability and all-weather reliability.
The S300 Pro surveillance hard drive demonstrates Toshiba’s commitment to ongoing collaboration with industry-leading video surveillance system manufacturers and enabling our partners and customers to benefit from our portfolio of high-quality surveillance hard drives.
Toshiba’s new generation S300 Pro surveillance hard drive will be available from August 2024.
