Viwood\'s AiPaper packs a 10.65-inch E Ink touchscreen into a 4.5 mm thin tablet with a week of battery life

The Viwoods AiPaper is a new tablet with an E Ink touchscreen, which is available with a diagonal of 10.65 inches and a resolution of 2,560 x 1,920, or as an 8.2 inch mini variant. The display of text is likely to be razor-sharp thanks to the 300 PPI pixel density.

The included stylus is also intended to make the tablet suitable for handwritten notes. The built-in E Ink panel cannot display colors, and the tablet is also not suitable for watching videos due to the slow frame rate. On the other hand, the screen remains legible in direct sunlight, while power consumption is minimal. This allows for a supposed battery life of four weeks, whereby Viwoods is referring to the standby runtime here; this figure drops to one week under daily usage of two hours.

The entire hardware, including the 4,100 mAh battery, fits into a 4.5 millimeter thin, 370 gram light case. Apart from the display, the AiPaper is a fairly standard tablet based on Android 13, which itself is powered by an unspecified eight-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash storage. Prices and availability

The Viwoods AiPaper E Ink tablet is currently being funded on Kickstarter.The AiPaper Mini with an 8.2-inch display costs HKD 2,869 (approx. $368) as part of the campaign, while the larger AiPaper with a 10.95-inch screen is available for HKD 3,815 (approx. $490).
