Dual-screen laptops may offer a refreshed user experience for productivity tasks, but such devices are still mostly marketed at premium price points, especially if the focus is higher processing power combined with OLED screens. Budget options are not yet readily available, at least not on the Western markets, and up until recently, we were looking solely at solutions based on Intel’s Alder Lake-N chips. Thankfully, since Intel has been accelerating its processor release schedule, OEMs like Topton can now offer entry-level dual-screen laptops powered by entry-level Alder Lake-U processors like the i3-1215U starting at $482.
The latest Topton 2 Screen laptop offers quite a decent processing speed bump over the Alder Lake-N models, as the i3-1215U comes with 2 performance cores with hyperthreading plus 4 efficiency cores, for a total of 8 threads. The P cores can boost up to 4.4 GHz and the iGPU side also gets a slight boost with a 64 EU Intel UHD chip.
Topton is equipping this new model with LCD touchscreens, despite OLED screens becoming quite affordable. Not the best, yet not the worst IPS panels either, with 10.95-inch diagonal, 1920 x 1200 resolution and 100% sRGB color gamut. A stylus pen is sold separately for an additional $12.
Port selection is limited and includes a full option USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB-C 3.0, 1x USB-A 3.0 and an audio jack. Internet connectivity is available via a Wi-Fi 6 + BT 5.2 card and Topton provides a 1 MP webcam along with a 2x 1 W speaker sound system.
When it comes to input methods, one of the screens can be used as a virtual keyboard. Additionally, for $45, Topton provides a separate keyboard + stand that attaches to the screens and allows for vertical or horizontal dual-screen setups. The back of the keyboard hides a pop-up touchpad. Of course, users may connect their own Bluetooth peripherals.
While the processor is quite energy efficient, the two touchscreens working in tandem require quite a bit of power, which, unfortunately is heavily restricted in this case, as Topton provides a 34 Wh battery that should last for 2-4 hours.
By default, this dual-screen laptop comes with 8 GB DDR4 RAM via a single slot, as well as 256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD storage for $482. Topton offers RAM options up to 32 GB and storage options up to 2 TB. The 32 GB RAM + 2 TB variant is still relatively affordable at $696.
The above is the detailed content of Budget-friendly Topton 2 Screen laptop with Intel Alder Lake-U CPU starts at just under $500. For more information, please follow other related articles on the PHP Chinese website!
