The Cardano community continues to anticipate the eventual launch of the Cardano Chang hard fork. This pivotal update is expected to transition the Cardano ecosystem to the Voltaire era.
Cardano (ADA) community members are eagerly awaiting the launch of the Cardano Chang hard fork, which will mark the beginning of the Voltaire era in the Cardano ecosystem. The Voltaire era will introduce decentralized community governance to the Cardano ecosystem.
In anticipation of the Chang hard fork, stake pool operators (SPOs) have begun supporting node 9.1, the latest Cardano network update. This update is necessary for SPOs to participate in the Chang hard fork.
According to data from Cexplorer, a leading Cardano block explorer, over 78% of the blocks produced by the Cardano network in the last eight hours have been minted by SPOs running on the latest Chang-ready node 9.1.
Specifically, 78.66% of the blocks produced in the last eight hours have been minted by SPOs on version 9.1. This rate is slightly lower over a more extended timeframe, with 77.59% of blocks produced going through SPOs on version 9.1 in the last 24 hours and 74.82% of blocks minted being produced by SPOs on version 9.1 in the last two days.
However, the majority of blocks being produced on the Cardano network by SPOs running on version 9.1 indicates that the ecosystem is now closer to Chang than it was a month ago, following the release of node 9.0.
Cardano Ecosystem Prepares for ChangSeveral key conditions still need to be met before Chang can fully take effect. Some of these conditions were outlined by Stake with Pride, a prominent Cardano SPO, in a previous report.
These conditions include at least 70% of Cardano SPOs upgrading to node 9.1, centralized exchanges and ecosystem services also upgrading to the latest version, and the ICC councils creating keys to replace the Genesis keys set to be destroyed.
As reported by The Crypto Basic six days ago, Bitfinex has become the first exchange to fully update to Chang. At press time, nine more exchanges, including Bitrue, Coinbase, and WhiteBit, are now set. This brings the total number of Chang-ready exchanges to 10, or 17% of exchange readiness, with 18 exchanges, including Binance, in progress.
Furthermore, stake readiness is at 78.22%, according to Cardanoscan, but the number of stake pools that are now ready amounts to 930 out of a total of 3,102, bringing stake pool readiness to 29.98%.
