Sony Group has announced the public Ethereum layer 2 blockchain Soneium in partnership with Startale Labs. The versatile chain, built on Optimism’s OP Stack, will be supported by Astar Network, Alchemy, Chainlink, Circle, Optimism, and The Graph.

Soneium is designed to attract app developers from sectors including entertainment, gaming, and finance. The blockchain will focus on three values: emotion, creative, and going mainstream.

The company is planning to launch the testnet in the coming days. Developers and creators will be able to start building their own applications on the testnet using the initial developer tools and SDKs, the press release noted.
