New Starlink Family Plan offers reduced monthly fee and equipment prices for each line

After introducing a stick in the form of a regional penalty fee to prevent dish flipping, Starlink is now offering a carrot shaped as a new family plan with discounts.

The Starlink Family Plan subscribers will see their monthly satellite Internet fee reduced to $100 on each line of service, and can buy the dish kit for just $199. This a $100 discount over the current Standard Kit promotional price atBest Buy, for instance.

Starlink rarely discounts its monthly subscription fee, so the new family plan is one of the rare occasions to take advantage of a subscription price reduction. Needless to say, the offer comes with a few caveats, and a deadline of September 3.

First off, it is still in Starlink's typical trial rollout, so it only goes out to select Residential plan subscribers in the US, and by invitation at that.

Starlink offers a family discount that allows customers to add additional subscriptions to their account with discounts on the Starlink Kit and/or monthly service prices. This plan is only available to select Residential customers in the US, by invitation. Once invited, to purchase a family discount subscription, select the "+" on your account page, select "Residential" service, then select the "Family Discount" as your hardware option and proceed to checkout. You can allow others to manage the shared account by adding them as additional users. Steps to add users are listed here. All subscriptions will be billed together on your account's billing day of the month.

The fresh Starlink Family Plan is available for up to two more "family member" lines on one account. This is in line with the current Residential Plan limitations which stipulates that the "maximum number of user contacts per account, including account owner's contact information" for Residential accounts is 3.

When added to a family plan, the purported family members will then have the usual 30 days to try the Starlink service before they decide if they want to keep it.

To maintain the discounted Starlink Family Plan monthly fee of $100 in good standing, one has to be subscribed withthe regular service price at all times, and can't change their plan for 6 months after signing.
