Telegram CEO Pavel Durov could be released from custody as soon as Wednesday, according to a press release from French prosecutors. However, Polymarket bettors are betting on a later release, with shares indicating a 72% chance of his release before October.
Durov, who has yet to be formally charged, is being questioned by investigators over crimes that were allegedly planned or broadcasted on Telegram, including money laundering, drug trafficking, child pornography, and non-cooperation with law enforcement.
According to the press release, investigators have until Wednesday to question Durov before deciding whether to extend his detention or charge him and move him to pre-trial detention. If bettors are correct in their predictions, Durov will be released before the initial deadline.
