Sony has now released a new pair of true-wireless earbuds (TWS), over four months after debuting the ULT WEAR (curr. $178 on Amazon). This time, the company has returned to its entry-level earbuds offering rather than introducing new earbuds under its more expensive WF-1000X series. Incidentally, neither the WF-1000XM6 nor the WH-1000XM6 are expected to launch before the start of 2025.
At any rate, the WF-C510 builds upon the ageing WF-C500 in a few areas, as a substantial pre-release leak suggested. For instance, Sony has increased battery life to 11 hours, or 22 hours with the charging case factored in. Unfortunately, Sony continues to use relatively small drivers, which only measure 6 mm in diameter.
With that being said, the WF-C510 supports Sony's Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE), as well as a customisable equaliser accessible through the Sony Headphones Connect app. Moreover, while the earbuds lack active noise cancellation (ANC), they do offer a transparency mode. The WF-C510 can now be pre-ordered internationally in black, blue, white and yellow colourways. Available for £55, €59 and $59.99 in the UK, Eurozone and US, respectively, Sony will not begin shipping pre-orders until early September. Please see the company's product page for further details.
