Plaud, the company behind the Plaud Note AI Voice Recorder (available on Amazon for $159), has announced a new product. Dubbed the NotePin, the device is described as an AI memory capsule, and like the Humane AI Pin, this is wearable.
The NotePin is practically an AI voice recorder too, but with a smaller form factor.Shaped like a pill, the NotePin can be worn around like a pendant, on the wrist like a fitness tracker, or attached to your cloth via a clip or magnetic pin. It is also pretty light at 25 grams.
To use it, owners have to press a capacitive button on the device to start recording. The device can record not just your own voice but also conversations with others (even in different languages) and then provide a transcription and summary. Plaud lists a couple of professions that would benefit from using the NotePin. It cites the example of a doctor who can get accurate summaries of a patient's health without missing any detail or an educator who can get post-session transcripts and find ways to improve their training programs.
The summaries and transcripts can be accessed via a companion app on your device or the web. Owners will be able to choose from over 20 different templates or create a custom one. There is also the option to select which LLM (large language model) you want.
Unsurprisingly, Plaud is offering a subscription plan to get the best out of the NotePin. While there's a free (Starter) plan with 300 transcription minutes per month and 9 professional summary templates, the Pro plan provides all of the benefits of the Starter plan but you get 1,200 transcription minutes, over 20 templates, and custom templates.
The Plaud NotePin has a 270mAh battery that should provide 20 hours of continuous recording and last 40 days in standby mode. There are two hi-fi microphones to capture recordings and it has 64GB of built-in storage. The NotePin is priced at $169 and is available in Cosmic Gray, Lunar Silver, and Sunset Purple. It will begin shipping in late September and will come with all the accessories you need, including a wristband, lanyard, clip, and magnetic pin.
