DJI is still remaining quiet about the prospect of releasing any new drones, even after months of Neo-related leaks. To that end, it still remains unclear when the company will officially introduce the compact drone. For context, various leakers seemed sure that the drone would appear on August 20 before offering conflicting release dates when that date did not come to pass.
With that being said, one of those dates has since proved to be inaccurate. Now, Jasper Ellens asserts that DJI will deliver an official teaser on August 29, implying that the drone will not be available from that date. Thus, it seems that the only date late left up for consideration is September 5, which is next Thursday.
In the meantime, Best Buy already appears to have received DJI Neo units. Again, while the company has not officially confirmed as much, a keen-eyed Redditor spotted retail packaging on display at an unnamed store in Canada. Incidentally, a second shot of the same retail packaging confirms key features and specifications, including 4K video support and a 135 g weight. Based on other recent leaks, the DJI Neo is expected to line up for less than the HOVERAir X1 (curr. $349 on Amazon), as well as HOVERAir's new Pro and Pro Max drones.
