According to a recent report by DigiTimes, Apple's upcoming M4 Pro and M4 Max-powered high-end MacBook Pros have entered mass production this month. Previous information has hinted at a potential Mac-focused launch event in October, which is when Apple typically announces updates to its Mac lineup.
Apart from the base model MacBook Pro with the M4 SoC, Apple is also expected to unveil the higher-tier M4 Pro and M4 Max SoCs for its 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros. Apart from the SoC upgrades and a likely boost to the base memory configuration - which is in itself a huge win, no other significant changes are expected as per reports by prominent tipster Mark Gurman.
Apple announced the M4 SoC as the successor to the M3 and garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews last May. Interestingly, the 10-core M4 made its debut with the iPad Pro launched alongside and is yet to make its first appearance on a Mac.
If Mark's reported schedule is to be believed, the M4-series will grace the MacBook lineup this October, followed by the MacBook Air in the Spring of 2025. As for desktop Macs, Mark expects a refreshed M4 iMac to hit shelves as early as this year, followed by the Mac Mini and Mac Pro in the summer of 2025, likely around the time of WWDC 25.
