DJI has only recently announced the launch event for its next drone. However, various leakers have now moved onto another long-rumoured DJI product, which should soon line up against the GoPro Hero 13 Black. While rumours of the Osmo Action 5 Pro's August 28 release proved inaccurate, the action camera has now been unboxed in a series of photos.
In short, the Osmo Action 5 Pro closely resembles the existing Osmo Action 4 (curr. $269.99 on Amazon). As such, the former carries over a small front-mounted display, which is also a touchscreen OLED panel. On top of that, DJI's next action camera will retain a single camera setup. Based on the images that have surfaced so far, a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor underpins this camera, over which DJI has covered with a lens that has an f/2.8 aperture and a 155° field of view (FoV).
Nonetheless, it appears that DJI intends to market the Osmo Action 5 Pro as featuring an 'all-new' camera. Thus, it remains to be seen how the company has managed to distinguish its latest action camera from its predecessor in this regard. Nonetheless, leaked retail packaging confirms that the Osmo Action 5 Pro will also feature a larger rear-mounted OLED touchscreen display, as well as up to 4 hours of battery life. Although a release date remains unknown for now, it is known that the action camera will support precision tracking, 360° HorizonSteady and DJI Mic 2 integration.
