The decision will result in two Japanese panel manufacturers that have long supplied Apple with LCD screens - Japan Display (JDI) and Sharp - being excluded from Apple's supply chain.

Since the launch of iPhone X in 2017, Apple has started using OLED screens on high-end iPhone models, affecting LCD suppliers.
