Retroid confirms high-end chipset for new AMOLED-wielding Pocket Mini gaming handheld

In recent days, Retroid focused on revealing details about the Pocket 5 rather than the Pocket Mini. However, that has now changed, although the company continues to share information about the former as well. Please see our latest Pocket 5 article for more details about the company's other forthcoming retro gaming handheld.

As for the Pocket Mini, Retroid has now confirmed that it will ship the device with theSnapdragon 865, a former chipset that Qualcomm debuted in late 2019. While Qualcomm is set to announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 this year, the Snapdragon 865 remains a comparatively powerful option, particularly when compared to the Allwinner H700 that Anbernic has installed inside the recent RG40XX H (curr. $89.99 on Amazon).

As the image below shows, the Pocket Mini will also pack a 4,000 mAh battery and a 3.7-inch display, despite its 165 x 77 x 17 mm housing. Moreover, the 215 g gaming handheld will rely upon a 960p AMOLED panel, unlike many of its peers. Added to that, the Pocket Mini will be capable of outputting to external monitors at 1080p and 60 FPS via its USB Type-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. Unfortunately, it still remains to be seen when Retroid will release the Pocket Mini at this stage.
