New Philips Hue smart lighting and security features teased
Philips Hue has revealed details of several features that will be added to its smart lights, lighting accessories, and security cameras in the future. These improvements were shared during a launch event at IFA 2024.
There will be four new lighting effects for Philips Hue smart lights: Cosmos, Underwater, Magic World and Sunbeam. These join the existing six effects such as Candle, Glisten and Prism. On top of this, users will be able to customize all effects, altering the base color, effect transition speed and brightness. New do-not-disturb functionality is on the way to motion detectors, and you will be able to activate or set a timer for these sensors via a Philips Hue switch.
There will be improved integrations with Amazon Alexa and Google Home for Secure products, allowing you to control devices with voice commands and view live stream video on devices like the Echo Show or Google Nest Hub. Users will also be able to set up routines so cameras are only active when needed, and an energy-saving tool for battery-powered cameras will enhance runtime. On top of this, a new AR feature will arrive on the iOS version of the Philips Hue app, allowing customers to try out products in their home virtually. The release dates for these new Philips Hue smart home features have not been confirmed.
